All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

DUII spells "TROUBLE" regarding car insurance!

The price of car insurance varies with every customer. To determine insurance rates, underwriters evaluate a number of factors. The age, make, model, features, and price of the car, how far it is driven daily and annually, and the age of the driver are all taken into account.

One very important factor is the driving record of the insured. Drivers who have been at-fault in past accidents pay more for car insurance than drivers with clean records. A record of DUII, DUI, or DWI all of which are citations for driving while under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants will also negatively impact the price of auto insurance.

Consequences of DUII

For many reasons, PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!! DUII must be avoided, as it is a very serious risk to everyone. Driving while impaired can cause damage to autos, and injuries or death for people. There are also legal ramifications to consider; in Oregon, these are quite stiff.

Driving under the influence of intoxicants in Oregon can lead to a one-year license suspension for a first offense. The state of Oregon also does not allow DUII defendants to make plea deals for a lesser offense, such as reckless driving. Driving under the influence of intoxicants is taken very seriously in this state.

Washington State is slightly less strict when it comes to DUI. A first offense can lead to a license suspension of 90 days to one year. However, the risks of bodily injury and property damage remain the same. It is never worth the risk of taking a life to get behind the wheel while impaired. It is always best to get a Uber, call a cab, or have a designated driver.

DUII can impact a driver's finances in more than one way. In addition to fines and increased insurance premiums, lost income may result from DUII. For some jobs, driving is an essential function. A DUII or DUI, with its accompanying suspended license, could lead to termination at work and a whole host of financial problems down the line.

Finally, having a record of DUII, DUI, or DWI makes it more difficult to find auto insurance. Car insurance quotes will always be higher for a driver with a record of DUII, than for one without. Many insurance companies will not insurance a new risk with a DUII, DUI, or DWI traffic citation, and many companies will non-renew existing policyholders at their first renewal following this type of citation.
